Australia Dependent Visa

You can bring your family to Australia on a dependent family visa. Whether you have a child or spouse living abroad who wants to join you or are coming to work or study temporarily in Australia, they are eligible to apply under family visa. Partner visa options vary depending on your circumstances.

Children of Australian citizens, eligible New Zealand citizens and permanent Australian residents may immigrate to Australia to join their parents. Children under the age of 25 are eligible. These children can become Australian permanent residents on Child Visa.

The parent sponsoring must be responsible for the child. The parent must provide financial support, including accommodation and at least the first two years of the child’s stay in Australia.Stepchildren and adopted children are also eligible for a Child Visa

Students can bring their dependent family members to Australia. You can include them on your student visa application or you can apply for themafter you have started your course in Australia. Partners, spouses and unmarried children under the age of 18 are eligible for dependent visas.

If you include your dependent family members in your student visa application, then you will have to include all members of your family on your Form 157A.
If you are applying for a family member to join you after you have started your course in Australia, then you will have to submit the following documents:

1. Form 919, Nomination of student dependents
2. Form 157A, Application for a student visa
3. A letter from one of your teachers expressing:
   • The course you are studying
   • The length of the course and the tentative completion date
   • If you satisfy all the course requirements
4. Proof that you can financially support your dependent family
5. Proof of family relation such as marriage certificate or birth certificate
6. Proof of school enrollment of school-aged children
7. Proof of health insurance for dependent family members
